MADISON, WI. - JANUARY 19, 2005 - Alert Systems Inc. today announced that Mr. Mark
A. Wood, an internationally recognized expert in Emergency Communications and Mobile
Networks, has joined the company as Director, Public Communications Systems.

Mr. Wood has more than 25 years experience in Emergency Communications and Mobile
Networks. He is a Technical Advisor to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of
Humanitarian Affairs, (UNOCHA) and was the UNOCHA Telecommunications Coordination
Officer during the 2003 Iraq earthquake relief effort.  Mr. Wood is currently a technical
Advisor to the United Kingdom Working Group on Emergency Telecommunications
(WGET).  He most recently contributed to the Kobe, Japan conference on Emergency
Communications following the 2004 Tsunami.

Mr. Wood is a frequent commentator and author on the subject of Emergency
Communications and Mobile Networks.  He is the co-author and contributing editor to the
ITU Handbook on Emergency Telecommunications (2001). He is also the author of
Disaster Communications (1997).  He is a guest lecturer on Disaster Communications at
the University of Wisconsin. As an Associate Member of The Survive Institute, an
Ericsson UK initiative for Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery service
management, Mr. Wood chairs the Telecommunications Working Group that reports to
country senior managers on telecommunications efficiency during disasters.

Mr. Wood is also a contributor to the International Red Cross with respect to critical
telecommunications infrastructure during disasters.  While residing in the United States of
America, he was a member of the American Red Cross Disaster Action Teams in the San
Francisco Bay and Dallas regions.  As a result of his work leading toward the adoption of
the Tempere Convention on Emergency Telecommunications, Mr. Wood received the
Diplome de Reconnaissance from the Secretary General of the United Nations'
International Telecommunications Union.
